A popular pub in the heart of Headingley has opened a ‘gamers paradise’.

Head of Steam on North Lane in Headingley has been popular for some time, and on Friday they unveiled their new space complete with an Americal pool table, 2x shuffleboards, beer pong table, electronic darts board and retro video gaming systems.

The gaming systems are so retro in fact, that Head of Steam have Street Fighter and Space Invaders machines, and a Nintendo 64 complete with classic 1997 game Goldeneye.

Games have seen a huge increase in popularity in Leeds bars in recent years – for instance Roxy Ballroom have gone from strength-to-strength and offer customers a wide variety of games to keep them occupied.

Head of Steam is a Camerons Brewery venue, and Operations Manager David Scott was confident that the new gaming facilities could be a success.

He said: “We’re already proud of what we’ve brought to the table in the thriving student district, but our new gaming floor and vegan offering is going to step things up even further.

“We wanted to have a good blend of both classic and contemporary gaming, and we’re confident our offering is on point.”
