Apple has fixed the eavesdropping bug which affected the Group FaceTime feature through the new iOS update. The company has also fixed the Group FaceTime server along with rolling out the iOS 12.1.4 update. This means all the devices that have received the iOS 12.1.4 update will be supporting Group FaceTime now. Nevertheless, this feature is still not available on devices running an older version of iOS.

Apple had taken down FaceTime last week when reports about the bug with the video-calling app started surfacing online. The bug let users hear the voice of the person they called even if the recipient did not pick up the call. The new update is now available for download on compatible iPhone and iPad devices.

Apple does not reveal any new additional feature with the new iOS 12.1.4 update in its official release note. Apple’s support page, however, mentions that the update fixes the FaceTime bug that let users listen to the audio of other participants in a Group FaceTime call even if they did not receive the call. “A logic issue existed in the handling of Group FaceTime calls. The issue was addressed with improved state management,” wrote the company on their support page.

The bug was reported by various media platforms last week and since then Apple had taken down the FaceTime app.

Apple has now restored the Group FaceTime server for all users using iOS 12.1.4. This means iPhone and iPad users with iOS 12.1.4 on their devices will now be able to make Group FaceTime calls.

In other news, engineers at Apple have also found an unidentified vulnerability in the Live Photo feature of the FaceTime app while conducting a thorough security audit of the FaceTime service. Apple has since made the required changes to the service. “To protect customers who have not yet upgraded to the latest software, we have updated our servers to block the Live Photos feature of FaceTime for older versions of iOS and macOS,” the company said in a media statement, as reported by 9to5Mac.
